The BSO is committed to being open and transparent in its daily business by publishing our information in accordance with our publication scheme but also taking all reasonable steps to make it as accessible as possible. In order to achieve this we can and will make any of our publically available information available in a number of languages upon request through our translation and interpreting service. The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act makes it easier for you to get information about us. This law, which came into force on 1 January 2005, means that anyone, anywhere can ask for any information we hold.

Publication Scheme
In order to comply with the Freedom of Information Act public sector organisations such as ours routinely publish information whenever possible.
We have adopted the Model Publication Scheme for all HSCNI organisations which was drawn up by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). The ICO is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Data Protection Act 1998
If you want to ask us for information which we may hold about you personally then this will be dealt with under the Data Protection Act 1998. This would include information relating to health records, employment and training – anything which is limited to you as a person.
