Withdrawal of 2 meat products from Health and Social Care supplies
27/02/2013
The HSC Business Services Organisation (BSO) was advised on 25 February that tests on 2 meat products that it contracts for on behalf of HSC organisations have identified that they contain small amounts of other meat products. The tests, carried out on FSA instructions, have detected that the mince beef contained at least 5% sheep meat and 5% pig meat. The tests also identified that beef sausages contained at least 5% pig meat. BSO has issued instructions to the HSC Trusts to cease using the products with immediate effect and to withdraw the products.
“BSO will continue to work closely with the FSA and other bodies and will act promptly as necessary. BSO stresses that there is no evidence of a threat to public health; this is about restoring and maintaining confidence in the food chain.”
