Equality and Human Rights

Mission Statement:

“To provide high quality bespoke Equality and Human Rights services to support our partners in delivering better health and wellbeing outcomes for Northern Ireland’s diverse population”

Public authorities are required to promote equality of opportunity and good relations in carrying out their functions, under Section 75 and Schedule 9 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. They are also obliged to ensure that all decisions comply with the Human Rights Act 1998.

The Equality Unit at the BSO is responsible for facilitating equality, good relations and human rights within the BSO.

The Unit also provides a range of equality services to other Health and Social Care organisations across Northern Ireland. At the moment we provide services to ten core clients.
