Logistics
PaLS Logistics service provides a stock service to all HSC Trusts throughout Northern Ireland
Over 1.4 million transactions are handled by our Logistics Service on behalf of Health and Social Care each year at an approximate value of £43 million. Our primary goal is to provide a cost effective, efficient, customer focused service supplying almost 4000 products from our warehouse direct to wards and departments at HSC facilities across Northern Ireland.
To make sure we achieve these goals our performance against target is measured by our customers through regular quarterly meetings and governed formal written Service Level Agreements.
A key element in our strategy for providing Procurement and Logistics services is to maximize the use of our Distribution Centres for stock purchasing, warehousing and distribution. the largest of our Distribution Centres is situated at Boucher Crescent, Belfast. The Distribution Centres operate a computerised warehouse management system, which facilitates the control of stock items from time of receipt to time of dispatch to its customer base as well as managing the space available in our Distribution Centres.
Our stock management system ensures appropriate inventory levels and our stocks are stored in optimum environmental conditions to ensure minimum deterioration and are rotated systematically to prevent obsolescence. The receipt of requests from HSC organisations (100% of which are received electronically) generates picking and marshalling activities, and orders are packed for dispatch.
